A BNP-backed mayoral candidate of Birampur municipality was injured as some unidentified miscreants hacked him at Ansar Math in Birampur upazila on Tuesday night.The injured mayoral aspirant was identified as Azadul Islam, also incumbent mayor of the municipality.Officer-in-charge of Birampur Police Station M Amiruzzaman said some hoodlums swooped on the BNP-blessed mayoral hopeful Azad while he was returning home after electioneering around 11pm.They hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him injured, the OC added.Later, he was whisked off to Birampur Upazila Health Complex. –UNB, Dinajpur
