BNP blames govt minister for ‘transport strike anarchy’

Dhaka – BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday alleged that a government minister has instigated the transport strike that created an anarchy in the transport sector.“He is an influential minister who has instigated the transport strike. An anarchic situation has been created through it. The government has been failed to tackle the situation,” he said while speaking at a discussion meeting at Jatiya Press Club.
The BNP organized the meeting recalling the memory of the army officials who were killed during the 2009 BDR mutiny in Pilkhana. BNP standing committee member and former army chief Lt Gen (Retd) Mahbubur Rahman presided over the meeting.
Mirza Alamgir said the BDR killing took place as part of the conspiracy to crash the national security system in the country.
He blamed the Prime Minister for her failure to take time-befitting measures in favour of army when they came under attack. He mentioned that whenever country’s independence and sovereignty came under repeated attack, the army resisted it.
Criticising the government to hike gas prices, the BNP leader termed it totally immoral and illogical.
He accused the government of trying to control everything including judiciary, law enforcers and media because they want to establish one-party rule in the country.
The BNP secretary general alleged that the government has turned the entire country into a prison by pouring the opposition leaders and activists in jails by implicating them in “false cases.”
He made it clear that as a democratic political party, the BNP wants to take part in the election but it must be held under a neutral government.
BNP standing committee member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, vice chairman Ruhul Alam Chowdhury and senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, among other, also addressed the meeting. – Staff Reporter
