BNP del scheduled to handover proposal on EC to President

Dhaka – A BNP delegation will go to Bangabhaban Tuesday to hand over a letter along with chairperson Khaleda Zia’s 13-point proposal to reconstitute the Election Commission.The delegation comprising BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed and BNP vice chairman Maj Gen (Retd) Ruhul Alam Chowdhury will go to Bangabhaban at 11:00am, acoording to party sources.
The BNP delegation is going to Bangabhaban 12 days after the party sent a written letter to the office of President seeking his appointment to handover Khaleda’s proposal.
When contacted a senior leader declined to say whether they have got an appointment to meet the President or the delegation will reach the party proposal to Bangabhaban.
Khaleda on November 18 placed her party proposal to reconstitute the EC based on consensus among political parties having representation in parliaments since the independence.
Prime Minister and ruling Awami League president Sheikh Hasina said they would accept whatever decision would come from the President who will appoint the new EC as its tenure will expire by February next. – Staff Reporter
