BNP leader held for ‘violating’ polls rules in Satkhira

Police arrested Habibur Rahman Habi, president of Satkhira municipality unit BNP and brother of BNP-backed chairman candidate in the upazila polls, on Friday evening on charge of violating the electoral code of conduct. Witnesses said a police team picked up Habi, brother of BNP-blessed chairman candidate in Sadar upazila Abdur Rauf who is now in jail, from an election rally at Bangalermor around 7:15pm. Confirming the incident, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Inamul Haque Biswas said they arrested Habi for violating the electoral rules. Besides, he was accused in a sedition case, the OC added. Meanwhile, BNP sources said Habi is on High Court bail in all the cases filed against him. – UNB
