BNP leader killed by AL supporters in Magura

A BNP activist was killed allegedly by ruling Awami League supporters at Sadar Upazila, in Magura, on Friday.
The BNP supporters retaliated by vandalizing and looting at least 10 houses of the Hindu minorities over the incident at Hatmalanchi village under Raghabdair Union Council around noon.
The dead was identified as Omar Ali, 45, a working committee member of the Raghabdair Union unit of the BNP, said Magura district unit BNP President Kabir Murad.OC of the Magura Sadar Police Station Jahangir Alam confirmed the killing and the looting of houses belonging to Hindu minorities.
Superintendent of Police (SP) of the district Jihadul Kabir visited the spot soon after the incident.
Inspector (Investigation) of the Magura Sadar Police Station Rezaul Islam told bdnews24.com that additional police personnel had been deployed in the village.
A local resident, Jalal Biswas, said that the Union unit BNP working committee members Tajum Uddin and Nayeb Ali were at loggerheads with the Union unit Awami League Organising Secretary Obaidur Rahman and Ward President Rasul Biswas since the 10th parliamentary elections.
He said the supporters of Obaidur-Rasul Group killed their rival activist Omar Ali at Hatmalanchi bazaar around noon.
Another local resident Dhirendranath Biswas said that Tajum Uddin, Nayeb Ali and their associates ransacked and looted 10 houses of the local Hindus after the incident. – bdnews24.com
