Kushtia – A BNP leader and union parishad chairman was shot to death by unidentified miscreants at Mahendrapur Bazar in Kumarkhali upazila on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Munshi Rashidur Rahman, 45, joint general secretary of Kumarkhali upazila unit BNP and chairman of Jagannathpur union parishad.Quoting witnesses, police said a gang of 5/6 masked criminals, riding on motorcycles, swooped on Rashidur at the bazaar around 6pm and opened fire on him, leaving him critically injured.
The BNP leader was rushed to Kushtia 250-beded General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
No one was arrested till filing of this report at about 8 pm.
Rashidur was elected chairman of the Jagannathpur union parishad thrice. – UNB
