BNP man killed in C’nawabganj bomb blasts

A BNP activist was killed and three others injured in a crude bomb explosion while placing a wreath at Shaheed Minar in Shibganj upazila of the district early Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Sujan,23, son of Ashraful Alam Babu of Sibganj pourashava area. Police and witnesses said two crude bombs went off when local people were placing wreaths at the Shaheed Minar in the wee hours today marking the 44th Independence and National Day, leaving four people injured. Among the injured, Sujan died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital around 3 am. Nurul, Toufiq and Bashar were admitted to the upazila health complex. Police Super Bashir Ahmed said the bombs were blasted following an altercation between some AL and BNP men at the Shaheed Minar. Additional police and Rab members have been deployed in the area. Meanwhile, Shibganj upazila Awami League office was ransacked and a motorbike torched at Shiganj bazar following the blasts. – UNB
