BNP Scy Gen Fakhrul returns home from Australia

Dhaka, Oct 18 (UNB) – BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir returned home from Australia on Thursday after a 20-day foreign trips.

Fakhrul along with his wife Rahat Ara Begum arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 11:50am by a flight of Singapore Airlines, BNP chairperson’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan told UNB.

On October 3, the BNP secretary general went to Singapore for medical treatment.

After receiving treatment at a hospital in Singapore for various health complexities, including blockage in the nerve of his neck, he went to Australia on October 6 to attend a meeting of Asia Pacific Democrat Union (APDU). He is a vice-chairman of the APDU as the organisation made BNP as its full member.

Talking to reporters, Fakhrul said he received treatment in Singapore for two days, and then went to Australia. “You all know my elder daughter lives in Australia. I took leave from the party to spend some days with them (daughter’s family).

Apart from attending the APDU meeting, the BNP leader said he also attended a federal conference of Australian ruling party at its invitation.
