BNP’s 11 JCD workers hurt in ‘BCL attack’ at Dhaka Varsity

Dhaka, Sept 23 (UNB) – At least 11 leaders and activists of BNP’s student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) were injured in an attack allegedly by workers of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the Dhaka University campus on Monday.

The injured received treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Witnesses said the incident occurred around 12.30 pm when JCD activists gathered in front of Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) to welcome their new central committee members.

They said three campus reporters also came under attack while performing their professional duties.

Contacted, JCD central committee general secretary Iqbal Hossain Shaymol alleged that the BCL men, led by its DU unit president Sanjit Chandra Das, assaulted them without any provocation.

He claimed that they also snatched their one bike and a mobile phone, he claimed.

But, BCL DU unit president Sanjit denied all the allegations and blamed the JCD men for trying to destabilise the campus deliberately.
