Bnp’s student affiliate chief Rajib sent on remand

Two courts of Dhaka  on Wednesday put Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal President Rajib Ahsan on eight days’ remand in four cases filed in connection violent activities.
Magistrate Shamsul Arefin of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka granted six days remand in three cases, of them two were filed with Paltan Police Station and the other was filed with Motijheel Police Station.Besides, Magistrate Tareq Mainul Islam Bhuiyan of the CMM Court granted another two-day remand in a case filed with Shahbagh Police Station.
Earlier, on Wednesday, police sought 50 days remand in five separate cases filed with Paltan and Motijheel Police Stations, and they also sought another ten-day remand in a case filed with Shahbagh Police Station. However, Magistrate Shamsul Arefin decided to pass orders later, about remand in two cases filed with Paltan Police Station subject to the production of the concerned case dockets.
The defence counsels of the accused moved separate bail petitions, but of no avail. Advocates Sanaullah Miah, Masud Ahmed Talukder and Omar Faruk Faruki moved the petitions. On behalf of the state, Additional Public Prosecutor Salma Hai Tuni and Assistant Police Commissioner were present in the court.
On July 19 at night, Rajib and five others were detained from Lebukhali ferry terminal in Patuakhali allegedly along with 45 contraband Yaba tablets and a bottle, that likely contains wine, before they were implicated in the cases.
