Bnp’s volunteer front leader found dead in Rajshahi

Dhaka – Police recovered the body of a leader of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal, volunteer front of BNP, from a pond at Hamirkutsa village in Bagmara upazila of the northern district of Rajshahi on Tuesday, Unb news agency reported.
The deceased was identified as Altaf Hossain Sona,32, president of the Hamirkutsa union unit of Swechchhasebak Dal and son of late Mujibul Shaha of the village.Police said locals spotted the body of Altaf floating in the pond in the area in the morning and informed police.
Hamirkutsa union chairman Mamunur Rashid, cousin of the deceased, said Altaf went missing at night the day before.
Matiar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bagmara Police Station, said he heard the news.
Youth hacked to death
In another incident a young man was hacked to death by miscreants at Chandipur in Rajshahi city early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Ahsan Habib Apel,30, son of late Bakul of the area.
Sources at Rajpara Police Station said a gang of miscreants attacked Apel in the area when he was returning home from his workplace early in the morning.
At one stage, the attackers hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Sukhi Begum, mother of the deceased, alleged that their neighbor Gias’s son Arif killed Apel over previous enmity.
Gias and his son Arif went into hiding after the murder. A case was filed in this connection.
