Boat carrying 60 passengers capsize 200km off Dhaka

A ferry boat carrying about 60 passengers on board capsized in the Meghna River in Haimchar upazila, about 200 kilometres southeast of Capital Dhaka, on Tuesday morning.Safaruddin, sub-inspector of Haimchar Police Station, said the trawler, MB Robin-1, capsized in the middle of the river around 9:30am after being hit by a launch while going to Paschim Eshan ghat from Telimor ghat.
Some of the passengers managed to swim ashore with the help of local people but the exact number of those going missing could not be ascertained immediately, the OC said. – News Desk
