Body of Railway Minister’s brother recovered from city lake

Police recovered the floating body of Railways Minister Md Mazibul Hoque’s elder brother from Dhanmondi Lake in the city on Sunday morning.
Family members said the deceased, ABM Abdul Latif, also a former additional secretary, went out of their Dhanmondi residence at Road-5 around 9pm on Saturday for a walk but he did not return home overnight.
Locals spotted the floating body in the lake around 11:30am today and informed police. Later, the law enforcers recovered the body.Contacted, Assistant Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Dhanmondi Zone) Rezaul Karim said the body bore no injury mark except a spot on the forehead. “It might have caused because of his collapse on the ground,” he added.
The body was handed over to his family members without autopsy as per their wish, Rezaul Karim said.
It was later sent to his village home at Basuara in Chouddagram upazila of Comilla district where he was buried at his family graveyard following a namaz-e-janaza after Maghrib prayers.
Meanwhile, Mazibul Hoque visited the Dhanmondi residence of his deceased brother at noon. – UNB
