Police early Wednesday recovered the body of a young man from under a truck set afire by miscreants by hurling petrol bomb on the Dhaka-Bogra Highway at Horgati under Salanga thana on Tuesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Milon, 27, of Goneshpur village in Shibganj upazila of Bogra district.
Police recovered the body of Milon from under the truck around 2:00am and sent it to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy in the morning.
Earlier, a young man named Imran Hossain, 32, of the same area, was killed and two people sustained burn injuries as pickets set afire the truck by hurling a petrol bomb on the highway during the opposition’s hartal on Tuesday evening.
Superintendent of Police Imran Hossain of Sirajganj said hartal supporters torched the Dhaka-bound potato-laden truck at Horgati near Bangabandhu Bridge around 8:15 pm by hurling a petrol bomb, leaving Imran dead on the spot and two others injured.
The injured—Shefat, 35, and Shanna, 45, — were first admitted to Sirajganj Sadar hospital and later shifted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital on the same night as their conditions deteriorated.
Officer-in-charge of Hatikumrul Highway Police Ali Farid Ahmed said joint force in an overnight drive arrested 10 people from different places under Salanga thana on suspicion of their involvement in the petrol bomb attack. -UNB, Sirajganj
