Boro paddy and rice procurement drive is going on in full swing in
all the ten upazilas under the district following the directives of
the government.
Parliament member and veteran freedom fighter Ashraf Ali Khan Kasru
formally inaugurated the district- wide Boro paddy and rice
procurement drive at local government food godown at Barhatta road
area in the district town here on Monday last.
Talking to local newspersons, district food controller Mahbubur Rahman
said that District food department fixed a target to procure a
total of 24,538 metric tons of Boro boiled rice, 3,098 metric tons of
Boro Atap rice from the owners of the automatic rice mills and 5,340
metric tons of Boro paddy directly from the growers in the district.
The purchasing rate of Boro boiled rice has been fixed at taka 29 per
kilogram of the rice, taka 28 per kilogram of the Boro Atap rice and
the purchasing rate of Boro paddy has been fixed at 18.50 per
kilogram, he said.
Meanwhile, a total of 13 purchasing centers have been opened in
different food godowns in ten upazilas of the district by the district
food department for making the procurement drive successful, the
district food controller added.
