Police recovered strangulated body of a boy from near Chapa Jhuri Bridge in
Nakla upazila early Monday, two days after he had been kidnapped by a gang from
Narayanganj district for ransom.
The deceased was identified as Ramzan, 9, son of Ismail Shikdar of Jalkuri area in
Siddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj.
Police and locals said receiving information from Siddhirganj Police Station that some
kidnappers abducted a minor boy from Siddhirganj and took him to Nakla, a team
of Nakla thana police conducted a drive in different areas of the upazila and arrested
two people on suspicion—Ripon, 20, of Baromaisa village, and Hamidul Islam, 21, of
Dhamna village of the upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Nakla Police Station Fasihur Rahman said the body of Ramzan was
recovered from near Chapa Jhuri Bridge at about 12.05am, following their confessional
statement during interrogation.
Quoting Ripon and Hamidul, OC Fasihur Rahman said that the duo had abducted the boy
from his house in Jalkuri area for ransom on Saturday night and brought him to Nakla.
Later fear of getting caught seized them suddenly as the boy begun to cry and they
strangulated him to death early Sunday and dumped the body in Chapa Jhuri Bridge area.
Assistant superintendent of police Salahuddin Shikdar of Sherpur district said the body of
the boy was taken to Nakla Police Station.
A case was filed with Siddhirganj Police Station.
The arrested kidnappers will be handed over to Siddhirganj police, added Salahuddin
