Dhaka – Independence Cup champions and star-studded Bashundhara Kings topped the points table of the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football toppling defending champions Dhaka Abahani Limited beating Brothers Union Club by 2-0 goals at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, holders Abahani Limited took the solo lead in the league for few hours crushing their traditional rivals Dhaka Mohammedan SC by 3-0 goals in the 9th round match at the same venue in the afternoon.
With the well-merited victory, big-budgeted Bashundhara Kings snatched the top slot from Abahani securing 22 points from eight matches while the sky-blue popular Dhanmondi outfit Abahani followed them with 21 points from nine encounters.
Bakhtiyar Duyshobekov put the Kings ahead in the 34th minute while Costa Rica’s World Cup playing booter Daniel Colindres sealed the fate of the match scoring one more goal in the 89th minute.UNB
