BSS Director passes away

Md. Liakat Ali, one of the organizers of great Liberation War, Director of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and Editor of Khulna based the Daily Purbanchal died of a cardiac arrest at 12 last midnight (Saturday) at the Holy Family Hospital in Dhaka.He was 67.He left behind his wife Begum Ferdousi Ali, also former director of BSS, only son Sony Mohammad Ali and a host of relatives, admires and colleagues to mourn his death.His first Namaz-e-Janaza was held in front of his Magbazar Queens Garden residence in the capital around 2.00 last night.He will be buried beside his parents at Basupara graveyard after return of his son from the United States. His body will be kept at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) mortuary today, family sources said.Born on September 17, 1948 in Faridpur, Liakat passed B.Com from Govt. Azam Khan Commerce College of Khulna.

He was former president of Khulna district unit of Bangladesh Chhatra Union (BCU) and one of the organizers of Liberation War in the region.He was Chairperson of Khulna Divisional Press Club Federation, Khulna Press Club, Chairman of Khulna WASA and Khulna Policing Community.Different socio-cultural organizations, Information Advisor to the Prime Minister, Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, and Managing Director and Chief Editor of BSS, Abul Kalam Azad, expressed deep shock at the death of Md. Liakat Ali and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.
