Farmers are expecting bumper T-Aman paddy yield in the current session as a total of 30,895 hectares of land have been brought under this paddy cultivation in three upazilas of the district.
Department of District Agriculture Extension (DAE) officials said the production target has been fixed 80,338 tonnes of rice this year.
They said, farmers have already completed the transplantation of T-Aman paddy in the district attaining hundred percent of the target fixed by the DAE.
Of the T-Aman cultivated land in the district, 14,365 hectares of land have been brought under its cultivation in Narail sadar upazila with production target 38,517 tonnes of rice, 8,870 hectares of land in Kalia upazila with production target 21,453 tonnes and 7,760 hectares of land in Lohagora upazila with production target 20,368 tonnes of rice, they added.

cultivation a grand success, necessary measures had been taken to provide fertilizers, insecticides and other agri inputs to the farmers at a fair prices.
BSS from Jamalpur adds: Farmers of the district are passing busy day with the cultivation of T-Aman paddy as they have gotten sufficient assistance from the government.
After the second phase of flood, farmers of the district cultivated T-Aman (Transplanted Aman) on 1,00780 hectares of land with a production target of over 2.65 lakh tonnes of rice in seven upazilas this year, According to Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE).
The DAE sources said a total of 29,600 hectares of land in Jamalpur sadar, 13,200 hectares in Sarishabari upazila, 16,000 in Melandah upazila, 9,950 in Islampur upazila, 7,700 hectares in Dewanganj upazila, 10,690 hectares in Bakshiganj upazila and 13,640 hectares in Madarganj upazila have been brought under T-Aman cultivation this year.
High-yield variety (HYV) on 63,000 hectares, hybrid on 4,340 hectares and local variety on 33,440 hectares of land have been bought under the T-Aman cultivation, added the sources.
According to DAE office sources, the target of T-Aman was fixed at 10,5,004 hectares of land but due to the two times flood farmers could bring 10,0780 hectares of land under T-Aman cultivation this year.
The DAE has distributed seedlings and seeds among 1,500 and 150 poor and marginal farmers respectively under its post-flood rehabilitation programme.
