Bus plunges into B’baria ditch killing 2 boys

A teenager and a minor boy were killed and 14 others injured when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Sarail upazila on Wednesday night.
The deceased were identified as Mahbub, 16, and Tariqul, 9, both residents of Jamalpur village in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur district.Ali Arshad, officer-in-charge of Sarail Police Station, said a bus carrying devotees on their way back to Gazipur from the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) in Sylhet slewed sideways into a roadside ditch breaking the railing of a bridge at Beratala as its driver lost control over the steering at about 7:30 pm.Locals rescued 15 people and took them to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctors declared Tariqul dead.Later, police recovered the body of Mahbub from the bottom of the bus at about 10:15 pm.Four of the critically injured were sent to Dhaka Medical Collegen Hospital as their conditions deteriorated. -UNB, Brahmanbaria
