Four day labourers were killed as a bus knocked down a rickshaw van in Mollarpul area on the Dhaka-Mawa highway in South Keraniganj upazila on Wednesday night.
The deceased were identified as Shamsul Haque,42, Dulal Bepari,42, Mojammel,30, and Rahim,28.
Witnesses said the Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Aram Paribahan’ hit a rickshaw van carrying the four day labourers in the area at about 10:00 pm, leaving the four of the van seriously injured.
The injured were admitted to Mitford Hospital where Shamsul, Dulal and Mojammel succumbed to their injures at about 11:00 pm.
Later, Rahim was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injures at about 10:00 am on Thursday.
Sub-inspector of South Keraniganj Police Station Aminul Islam confirmed the deaths.
Police seized the bus but its driver and helper managed to flee the scene.
A case was filed in this connection.
