Manikganj – Two drivers were killed and 20 other people were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Golra on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Shaturia upazila early Saturday.The deceased were identified as Shahin Hossain, a resident of Kawar Char in Barisal, and Jahangir Hossain, 35, of Bhagarpara upazila of
Jessore district.Officer-in-charge of Golra Highway Police Station Nurul Alam said the bus of ‘Golden Line Paribahan’ was going to Barisal from Gabtali in the capital at night.When the bus reached Golra, it collided head-on with a vegetable-laden truck around 1am, leaving bus driver Shahin and truck driver Jahangir dead on the spot and 20 others injured. The injured were whisked off to Manikganj Sadar Hospital from where two of them were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.Following the accident, vehicular movement disrupted for an hour, creating a long tailback on the highway, the OC added.(UNB)
