A businessman has been allegedly beaten to death by his business partner and his hired goons at Dhaka’s Badda.Family members of Md Shamim, 35, said his partner Mizan and his hired goons had beaten him up at Badda’s Natun Bazar at around 8pm on Thursday.Shamim was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.Badda police OC MA Jalil said they arrested Mizan based on information provided by police at DMCH.
He said Shamim and Mizan, both former employees of readymade garment industry, had established a ‘small factory’ in partnership six or seven years ago but closed it down after incurring losses.The police officer said differences cropped up between them over ‘monetary transactions’.He said that Mizan had denied his involvement in the incident.Police are investigating the matter, he added.DMCH medical report mentioned ‘internal haemorrhage’ as the cause of Shamim’s death.No case was filed over the incident until Friday morning.
