Cartoonist Ahmed Kabir Kishore’s lawyer yesterday lodged an allegation with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court that Kishore was tortured by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). Kishore’s lawyer Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua filed the allegation with the CMM Court of Dhaka on Sunday.
According to the allegation, members of RAB-3 arrested Kishore from his Lalmatia residence in a case filed under the Digital Security Act on May 6, last year. Later, the RAB force allegedly tortured Kishore physically and mentally.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Mohammad Jashim of the CMM Court rejected a petition filed to put cartoonist Kishore on remand, in connection with the case filed under Digital Security Act.
Kishore has been in jail for over nine months.
