Case filed over Tangail tailor murder

Dhaka – A case has been filed in connection with the killing of Hindu tailor Nikhil Chandra Joarder, Unb mews agency reported.
Victim’s wife Aroti Rani Joardar filed the case against three unidentified people with Gopalpur Police Station on Saturday night, said officer-in-charge of the police station Abdul Jalil.Meanwhile, a police team was deployed at the house of slain Nikhil Chandra Joarder for providing security to his family members.
Earlier, police detained a madrasah teacher, Maulana Amirul Islam, 42, super of Alamnagar Dakhil Madrasah, from his home at Dattabari village in Madhupur upazila of the district, for interrogation in connection with the killing of the tailor.
Amirul Islam, also the Gopalpur correspondent of vernacular daily Inqilab, filed a case against Nikhil in May, 2012 for his derogatory remarks about Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
Nikhil had then served three months in jail for his disparaging comments.
Later, Amirul withdrew the case on March, 2015.
Police said Nikhil’s niece (brother’s daughter) Swarna divorced her husband a few days ago and Nikhil had a role in the divorce.
The family members of Swarna’s husband had been giving death threat to Nikhil, police further said.
The Hindu tailor was chopped to death by assailants at Dubail Bazar in Gopalpur upazila around 11:30 am on Saturday.
Three youths riding a motorcycle appeared before the tailoring shop of Nikhil, 45, while he was working there and called him out of the shop.
Later, they chopped him with sharp weapons indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.
