Shafiqul Islam Shahin of Raghunathpur village under Monirampur upazila
filed a case against the upazila nirbahi officer of Monirampur, Sharif
Nazrul Islam and assistant union land officer of Chaluahati, Mizanur
Rahman with a Jessore court.
The complainant, in his case statement, accused the two of fraud,
corruption and misappropriation of power on Wednesday. The case was
filed with Jessore District and Session Judge, said Taj Hossain Taju,
lawyer for the complainant.
The lawyer told journalists that the assistant land officer of
Chaluahati, Mizanur Rahman very recently issued an order to the
complainant to pay Tk 1 lakh 33 thousand as the tax of 16 acre 68
decimal land. The land officer demanded Tk 65,000 more later. ‘The UNO
was informed the matter and he also threatened the complainant’, the
lawyer added.
When phoned for his comments in this connection, the UNO did not
