Charge-sheet against Khaleda 41 others for burn deaths Oct 13

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday (Monday) set October 13 for submission of the charge sheet against four BNP leaders including Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a case filed for the deaths of 42 burn victims during BNP-sponsored shutdown and blockade programme across the country.
Magistrate Maruf Hossain of Dhaka CMM Court fixed the date on Monday morning after Gulshan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) failed to submit the probe report in the case. The OC was supposed to submit the report on Monday.The other three accused persons are: BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah and Khaleda’s two advisers Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury and Professor Emajuddin Ahmed.
According to case statement, BNP Chief Khaleda Zia announced a nationwide blockade from his Gulsha’s office in the city on January 5 last and that was followed by hartal (shutdown). A total of 42 people were burnt to death and government properties worth crores of Taka were damaged till February 1 since the announcement of the programme.
On February 2, pro-government organization, Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad President AB Siddique filed the case with Dhaka CMM Court. The court asked  Gulshan Police Station OC to submit probe report after investigation. – Special Correspondent
