A young man drowned in a waterbody after being chased by police at Miahpara village in Bangha upazila on Saturday noon.The deceased was identified as Asadul Howlader, 28, son of Isha
Howlader, resident of the village.Local people alleged that a police team led by sub-inspector Mukul and Rashel picked up Asadul and Mohammad Jahirul from the village and demanded money from them.They law enforcers tortured them as they failed to give them the demanded money, they alleged.As the youths tried to flee the policemen chased them. At one stage of chasing, Asadul fell in a waterbody and drowned.Shahadat Hossain, Bhanga upazila chairman confirmed the incident.However, Nazmul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bhanga police station, denied the allegation.Enraged by the incident, local people brought out a protest procession
