Chattogram Challengers to play Sylhet Thunder in opener

Dhaka – Chattogram Challengers will take on Sylhet Thunder in the opening match of the seven–team new-look Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on December 11 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur.

The match will kick off at 12:30pm at the home of Bangladesh Cricket.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the league on December 8 at a gala opening ceremony.

Cumilla Warriors will play Rangpur Rangers in the other opening day’s match which will begin at 5:20pm under floodlight at the same venue.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday announced the itinerary of the seven-team league named after Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

On the next day (Nov 12), Dhaka Platoon will play Rajshahi Royals in the first match at 12:30pm while Khulna Tigers will encounter Chattogram Challengers in the evening match at 5:20 pm at the same venue.

Seven teams — Chattogram Challengers, Cumilla Warriors, Dhaka Platoon, Khulna Tigers, Rajshahi Royals, Rangpur Rangers and Sylhet Thunder — will complete in the five-week long double-league basis competition.

After the first leg matches end in Dhaka on December 14, the league matches will be played in Chattogram from December 17-24, again in Dhaka from December 27-31, in Sylhet from January 2-4 and again in Dhaka from January 7.

The first qualifier (between first and 2nd position teams) will be held on January 13 from 5:20pm at SBNCS in Dhaka and the eliminator (between 2rd and 4th position teams) will held on the same day at 5:20 pm at the same venue.

The 2nd qualifier (between winners of eliminator and loser of first qualifier) will be held on January 15 and the final will commence on January 17 at 7 pm at the same venue. UNB
