Chile invites Bangladesh entrepreneurs

The Ambassador of Chile to Bangladesh, based in New Delhi, Cristian Barros, on Wednesday invited Bangladeshi entrepreneurs to start business in Chile under an initiative ‘Startup Chile’. The envoy informed that the Chilean government has taken an initiative, titled ‘Startup Chile’, by which Chile is trying to attract entrepreneurs from allover the world to establish their businesses in Chile through providing various opportunities.He said some 5,600 entrepreneurs from around 70 countries have already applied for the project and the second phase for submission of application will start on March 11 and will end on April 9 this year. The Chilean diplomat came up with the offer during a meeting with Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) President Mohammad Shahjahan Khan held at the DCCI. Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of Chile Rodrigo Gallardo, Hon Consul Asif A Chowdhury, DCCI senior vice president Osama Taseer, vice president Kh Shahidul Islam and members of the DCCI board were also present. The DCCI President sought Chilean investment in agro processing, pharmaceuticals, jute products and ceramics, textile sector of Bangladesh. He mentioned that the Chilean government granted duty-free access of Bangladeshi products to their market last year, aiming to strengthen bilateral trade between the two countries. Osama Taseer made a presentation highlighting ‘Entrepreneurship and Innovation Expo’ taken by the DCCI in cooperation with Bangladesh Bank to promote 2000 new entrepreneurs in the country. Chilean Ambassador appreciated the DCCI initiative. – UNB
