After the Indian Prime Minister’s phone call, China, Vietnam and Cambodia on Monday greeted the new government and Sheikh Hasina for being Prime Minister for the third time. In a message to his Bangladesh counterpart, Chinese premier Li KeQiang said, “I would like to join hands with you to advance continuously China-Bangladesh comprehensive and cooperative partnership to a new stage.” The Chinese PM mentioned that Bangladesh and China are close and friendly neighbours and recalled that a sound progress has been made in all-area cooperation between China and Bangladesh by the joint efforts of both sides in the recent years. “On the occasion of your assuming office of the Prime Minister of the Government of Bangladesh, I would like to extend, on behalf of the Chinese government and people, and in my own name, the warm congratulations and best wishes to you,” he said. The Chinese premier also wished Bangladesh’s prosperity and wellbeing of its people and every success in Bangladesh Prime Minister’s work. Earlier, Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh congratulated his Bangladesh counterpart Hasina on being Prime Minister for the third time.
Indian President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday congratulated Sheikh Hasina for being the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the third time.
Talking to UNB, PM’s special assistant (Media) Mahbubul Hoque Shakil said the Indian President called up Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the evening and greeted her.
The Indian President hoped that the two countries’ identical fight against poverty and illiteracy would be expedited under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said quoting Mukherjee as saying.
On Sunday Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh congratulated his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina for being Prime Minister for the third time.
