Chinese President Xi Jinping has appreciated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s letter offering China assistance to deal with the deadly coronavirus outbreak saying that the ‘friendly sentiments’ Bangladesh demonstrated towards China.
“On behalf of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Chinese Government and the Chinese people, I would like to express our appreciation for the friendly sentiments the government and people of Bangladesh cherish towards China as was adequately reflected in your letter,” said Xi Jinping in his message of appreciation on Monday last.
“Your (Sheikh Hasina’s) letter of sympathy and support has come at an unusual moment when China is waging a battle against the outbreak of the novel coronavirus,” he said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her recent letter to Chinese President and CPC general secretary Xi Jinping, expressed the readiness of the government of Bangladesh to extend any help to mitigate the plight of the victims.
“The people and the government of Bangladesh are with the friendly people and the government of China to address the crisis,” she assured.
The Bangladesh Prime Minister expressed deep condolence for the loss of the lives due to the outbreak of Coronavirus in Wuhan city and other places in China and extended her sincere sympathy to the families of the victims.
She extended her sincere thanks to Xi Jinping for taking good care of a large number of Bangladeshi citizens living in China at the tragic moment of coronavirus outbreak.
Sheikh Hasina, however, expressed her firm conviction that the government of China under the leadership of Xi Jinping will be able to face and stop the aggravation of the situation with utmost capacity and control.
The Chinese President, in his message, also said China has responded with concerted efforts of the entire nation and taken the most comprehensive, rigorous and thorough prevention and control measures.
“Thanks to these painstaking efforts, significant progress has been achieved in the war on the epidemic. We’ve full confidence, capability and determination to prevail in containing and mitigating the epidemic,” said Xi Jinping.
Noting that China will strive to meet this year’s economic and social development goals, he said China’s robust epidemic response is meant not only to protect the life, safety and health of the Chinese people, but also to make contribution for global public health.
Mentioning that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman played a significant role in promoting China-Bangladesh relations, Xi Jinping said, “We in China are following with intense interest the “Mujib Year” celebrations and wishing you a complete success.”
