Members of Coast Guard arrested eight suspected poachers along with one deer and 1000 metre current net from Jaglar Char area in the Meghna River in Hatia upazila of the district on Saturday noon.The arrestees were identified as Gias Uddin, 40, Md Sorab, 30, Md Sakhawat, 14, Jahir, 20, Kabir Hossain, 26, Ashraf Hossain, 30 Kanti Lal, 38 and Saiful, 25, all haling from Ramcharan village in the upazila.
Contingent Commander of Hatia Tamoruddi coast guard station Aminul Islam said in a drive a team of the coast guards arrested the eight poachers along with one deer and 1000 meter current net from a stationary trawler at Jaglar Char area in the Meghna River around noon.
Later, officials of the Forest Department filed a case with Hatia Police Station against seven people in this connection.
