An 11-member ‘District Employment Implementation Committee for Physically Challenged People’ was formed at a meeting held here at ‘Adhikar Chamber’ in the city on Sunday afternoon.
Rangdhanu Zilla Protibandhi Adhikar Sangstha (RZPAS) with the assistances of ADD International and under financial support of Manusher Janno Foundation organised the meeting for the civil society members, professionals and elite of the city.
President of the district legal aid committee for the disabled people, noted writer and social worker of the city Advocate MA Basher Tipu presided over the meeting.
The meeting discussed issues like creating awareness on the legal and constitutional rights of the physically challenged population, good governance and coordination in and among different organisations of the disabled people, their employment opportunities etc.
After discussion, the meeting unanimously formed the 11-member committee that will work for exploring employment opportunities of persons with disabilities for their jobs in the government, non-government, private and other departments and organisations.
The newly formed committee will also work for creating awareness on the fixed government quota for jobs of the physically challenged people among the concerned government and non-government departments and organisations and private bodies.
Noted lawyer and writer Advocate M A Basher Tipu and Capacity Development Facilitator of Rangpur district office of ADD International Marufa Begum have been elected as the President and General Secretary of the committee respectively.
The other members of the executive committee are: Monwar Hossain- Senior Vice President, Advocate Khairul Alam Kalam- Vice President, Senior Reporter of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Mamun Islam – Joint Secretary, Advocate AKM Harunur Rashid – Organizing Secretary and General Secretary of Rangpur District Shop Owners’ Association Rezaul Islam Milan- Information Secretary.
General Secretary of City Press Club Rangpur Shakil Ahmed – Publicity Secretary and Advocate Dilruba Rahman of Rangpur unit of BLAST- Women & Children Affairs Secretary.
Besides, President of RZPAS Nur Alam and President of Prottyasha Protidin Nari O Shishu Unnayan Sangstha Khadija Parveen have been elected as the executive members of the newly formed committee. -BSS, Rangpur
