Conference for local suppliers of Rooppur NPP April 17

Dhaka – АSE Group of Companies (a subsidiary of ROSATOM State Nuclear Energy Corporation) and Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission will hold a conference on procurements for Rooppur NPP. The purpose of the event is to ensure transparency in work with Bangladeshi suppliers.The conference for potential suppliers of equipment and materials for Rooppur NPP, which is currently under construction, will take place in Dhaka (the Le Meridien hotel) on April 17 th . The agenda will include design requirements imposed during construction of the facility, tendering procedures and supply terms, logistics and equipment manufacture quality assurance.
“As the general contractor we plan to involve, as much as possible, Bangladeshi enterprises in construction of Rooppur NPP, the largest energy project of the country which has tremendous importance for its economy”, Alexander Khazin, Senior Vice President for International Projects at АSE Group of Companies said.
According to him, at the moment it is necessary to select suppliers of construction materials and equipment, including sand, stone chips, concrete, reinforcement, low-pressure pipelines and rolled steel.

This will not only allow us to optimize costs but also to ensure top quality of the products which is a prerequisite for construction of such a complex facility as a nuclear power plant”.
Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (NPP)
The construction of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) is implemented under an intergovernmental agreement signed between Russia and Bangladesh on November 2 nd , 2011. On December 25 th , 2015 ASE group of companies (ROSATOM’s subsidiary) signed a contract to construct Rooppur NPP consisting of two VVER power units, each with a capacity of 1200 MW. The NPP construction site is located 160 km from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, on the east bank of the Ganges river. The first of two units is expected to go into operation in 2023, the second – in 2024. The design of the innovative Generation 3+ power unit which will be installed on Rooppur NPP includes the most powerful type of VVER-1200 reactor, as well as a high-speed turbine specially designed for new-generation NPPs. It provides the highest level of operational safety and fully meets all post-Fukushima requirements strictly set by the IAEA.
