Dhaka, Mar 15 – President Abdul Hamid has asked the authorities concerned to consider climate change issue seriously in taking and implementing infrastructure development projects in haor region.
He came up with the call while addressing a view-exchange meeting with local senior citizens and public representatives at upazila auditorium in Astagram upazila of Kishoreganj on Tuesday night.
“Climate change is now an important factor in development….so importance must be given to environmental issues in implementing infrastructure development projects in haors,” the President said.
He said water flow could not be hampered in haors due to development works and the issue should be taken into account during implementation of projects.
Hamid said Bangladesh has many problems but its resources are limited. So, development projects should be taken and implemented on priority basis identifying local problems, he added.
During the meeting, local people informed various local problems to the President and asked him to take steps to resolve those. – UNB
