Dhaka – Bangladesh middle-order batsman Sabbir Rahman on Sunday said he plays for the Tigers thinking every match as his last match. The right-handed batsman struck a century recently against New Zealand in their home which might favour him to be selected for the Tigers’ World Cup squad.
Sabbir returned home after hitting hundred in the final ODI against New Zealand, and he is now preparing himself for the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) for Abahani Limited. Sabbir was roped in by Uttara Sporting Club, but they have exchanged him with Abahani.
The 27-year-old batsman missed the last season of DPDCL as he was banned by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) due to his off-field behaviour.
“I hit a century in the last match against New Zealand which will help me stay confident in the coming days,” Sabbir said on Sunday while talking to reporters at the Mirpur academy ground.
“I always play with a lot of pressure on me. Perhaps this is my fortune. I always count every match as my last match. It helps me play by giving my best,” Sabbir further said.
Sabbir celebrated his first international century in a stylish way. But that created criticism in the cricketing arena. But the right-handed explosive batsman said he had nothing in mind while celebrating the first ton.
“There is no rule to celebrate in a single way. Everyone has their own celebrating style. I also have my own way to celebrate. It will be good if you don’t take personally,” Sabbir also told the reporters.UNB
