Construction of Khoksha Ghaghot Bridge begins in Rangpur

The construction works of the long-awaited Khoksha Ghaghot Bridge at Taka 1.42 crore has begun on the Mirganj Road here under Ward No-32 in the city.Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu inaugurated the construction work by unveiling plaque of foundation stone of the bridge at a ceremony on the site on Monday afternoon as the chief guest.RCC has been implementing construction works of the bridge under the City Governance Project (CGP) with funding of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).Under the JICA-funded Taka 96 crore CGP project, RCC has been implementing construction works of a number of roads, bridges, culverts, drainage and sewerage systems and other infrastructures in all 33 wards of the city.Panel Mayor and City Councilor Alhaj Abul Kashem for Ward No-32 presided over the ceremony followed by a discussion participated by hundreds of people of the locality.Female City Councilors from reserved wards Farida Kalam and Nazmun Nahar Nazma, City Councilor Idris Ali (Ward No-28), Executive Engineer of RCC Azam Ali and Joint Secretary of City Shop Owners’ Association Moazzem Hossain addressed.The City Mayor said massive infrastructural development works are being implemented as per a long-term master plan for building an eco-friendly, modern, traffic-jam free and beautiful city with excellent communication networks.“Rangpur will become one of the most beautiful cities in the region with excellent and modern road communication networks, congenial environment and eye-catching looks all-around,” he said.He sought continuous cooperation of the city dwellers for smooth completion of the ongoing massive infrastructural development works in the city ensuring the best quality, transparency and accountability.BSS, Rangpur
