Mayor of Rangpur City and valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu launched construction works of a drainage system in Gomostapara area in the city this afternoon.Construction works of the drainage system were launched under the ongoing construction packages of 142 separate roads, culverts, drainage systems and other works under 142 groups at Taka 33 crore in the city from its own resources.Jhantu formally inaugurated the construction works by cutting ribbon at a ceremony arranged in Gomostapara area in the city as the chief guest with City Councilor of Ward No-20 Tauhidul Islam in the chair.
Superintending Engineer of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Emdad Hossain, its Executive Engineer Azam Ali, President of District Crockery Association Ali Hossain Mollah and Joint Secretary of City Shop Owners’ Association Moazzem Hossain Mithu were present as special guests.The Mayor said construction works of the drainage and sewerage systems along with roads, culverts, recreation places, offices, power and water supply systems, industries are being conducted in a well-planned manner in the city.He called upon the citizens for paying their taxes timely as the RCC will run its uplift activities at the tax money being paid by them for ensuring all necessary services, civic facilities and amenities in the city in near future.He also sought cooperation of all for turning Rangpur into an international standard modern, decent and beautiful city with eye- catching looks and all necessary services, civic facilities and amenities in near future. -BSS, Rangpur
