Sylhet-Dhaka-Ctg rail links cut off
The rail communications of Sylhet with Dhaka and Chittagong were disrupted following
derailment of a freight train in Daulatkandi area of Raipura upazila on Wednesday
morning.
Doulatkandi Railway Station sources said five bogies of a Dhaka-bound container train
from Chittagong veered off the tracks at an outer signal of the station around 8.30am,
halting communications on the two rail routes.
Four trains, including Dhaka-bound ‘Prabhati Express’ from Chittagong and Dhakabound ‘Jointika Express’ from Sylhet remained stuck in Bhairab and Shriniji rail station
for the derailment.
The train service will resume after a relief train from Dhaka salvages the compartments,
