Contempt rule sought against Shafique

Detained BNP leader Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury MP Monday filed a contempt of court petition with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 against Law Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed.

Lawyers of Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury, detained for his alleged involvement in wartime crimes against humanity, sought contempt of court rule against Barrister Shafique Ahmed for influencing the tribunal and hampering the trial process of the Skype conversation leak case.

Earlier on December 13, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 imposed a ban on publishing further report containing conversation between Justice Nizamul Huq and law expert Ahmed Ziauddin over Skype.

Later on the day a sedition case was filed against Daily Amar Desh editor Mahmudur Rahman and publisher Hasmat Ali for publishing news report containing conversation between Justice Nizamul Huq and law expert Ahmed Ziauddin over Skype on December 9.
