Cop’s snatched pistol recovered in Sirajganj

Police recovered a policeman’s pistol, looted by some muggers on Sunday night, from Kandipra village under Solonga Police Station on Monday night.   Rashedul Islam Biswas, officer-in-charge of Solonga Police Station, said the muggers took away the pistol and cash money from Mostafizur Rahman, sub-inspector of the police station at Chouria near Somobay Petrol Pump around 10:45pm on Sunday.   After the incident, police launched a drive to recover the pistol.   Police arrested Ashraful Islam on Monday in connection with incident, the OC said, adding that they recovered the pistol in an abandoned condition at Kandipara on Monday night following his confessional statement. -UNB
