Country heading towards deep crisis: Ershad

Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad on Tuesday urged all the political forces to quickly resolve the country’s political crisis through discussions showing respect to democratic norms. In a statement, Ershad also urged the people belonging to all professions to get united and raise their voice against the ‘sickening politics.’
“The country is gradually heading towards a deep crisis. The people of the country are passing their days in frustration, uncertainty and panic. People and police are facing the tragic end of their lives. The common people want to get rid of such a situation,” he said.
Referring to Monday’s police action on the BNP central office, Ershad said the common people of the country watched on televisions and read in newspapers how police carried out mass arrest in the party office. “In a democratic rule, this is in no way supportable and acceptable.”
He said if things keep on going on in such a fashion, a deadly situation will emerge which will create the grave for democracy. “So, I say, there’s still time. Find out an acceptable way of solution through discussions,” the JP Chairman said. UNB
