A Dhaka court yesterday (Wednesday) deferred submission of the probe report in a case filed against BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia for hurting religious sentiments of the people to October 28.

Magistrate Mohammad Nuru Mia of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka fixed the date as the Investigation Officer of the case could not submit the report on Wednesday.

Jananetri Parishad President AB Siddique filed the case on October 21, last year, accusing Khaleda Zia of using words intended to create conflict among the people of different social strata.

The case statement says that Khaleda Zia while addressing a function of the Hindu community at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, on October 14 last year, said “Awami League leaders are pretending to be secular but  they have no faith in any religion”. “Awami Leaque men attack people from all social strata and occupy religious institutions using secularism as rhetoric when they talk,” she added.
