The Speedy Trial Tribunal-3 of Dhaka yesterday (Wednesday) deferred the hearing in the case filed in connection with the killing of blogger Ahmed Rajeeb Haider in the capital to October 11.
Judge-in-Charge of the tribunal Nur Uddin deferred the hearing as no witness return to the court on Wednesday. Of the 55 witnesses the court so far recorded the deposition of 13 witnesses.
Rajeeb, a Gonogagoron Moncho activist was hacked to death at Pallabi area of the city in February of 2013. His father Dr Nazimuddin filed the murder case Pallabi Police Station the following day, the February 16.
Detective Branch (DB) Police Inspector Nibaran Chandra Barman submitted the charge sheet of the case accusing eight people including Ansarullah Bangla Team chief Mufti Jasim Uddin Rahmani on January 28, last year. Other seven accused persons are: North South University students Faisal Bin Naim alias Dipu, 22, Maksudul Hasan Anik, 26, Ehsanur Reza Rumman, 23, Md Naem Sikder alias Irad, 19, Nafir Imtiaz, 22, Sadnan Yasir Mahmud, 20 and Redoanul Azad Rana, 30.
Of the accused Rana is on the run while others are in the jail. Jasim Uddin Rahmani did not admit his involvement in the killing. However, other six accused made confessional statements admitting their involvement in the incident and Rahmani was made accused in the case depending on their confessional statements.
