Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor on Thursday said the cultural exchange activities between Bangladesh and Russia would begin soon. He was addressing a press briefing at the meeting room of the Cultural Affairs Ministry.
The minister said there is no activity for cultural exchange with Russia although there has been a cultural agreement with the country since 1972.
He, however, said a Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries has been signed for mutual cooperation in the field of culture, adding a draft policy has been sent to the Russian government in a bid to begin the cultural exchange programme.He expressed the hope that the process will be completed soon and the cultural exchange programme will begin immediately.
“Through the cultural exchange, our culture will reach the world arena on one hand while an opportunity will be created to enrich our culture by witnessing Russian arts, literature and culture on the other hand,” Noor said.
During the briefing, deputy head of the Russian Federal Agency for Co-Operation with foreign countries Alexander G Chesnokov said, Russian is very active for the overall development of Bangladesh, especially the development of its youth force.
Recently, the Russian government has decided to increase the quotas for Bangladeshi students with scholarship, Alexander Chesnokov added. – UNB
