Customs official at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport recovered foreign currency worth around Tk 1.65 crore from inside vegetables laden cartons , which were scheduled to export to Singapore on Wednesday.
Sources at the airport said based on secret information, a team of Dhaka customs house conducted a search at export cargo village of the airport and recovered the foreign currencies, including 6000 Sadi real, 47,000 Dirham, 10,000 US dollars and 3000 Dinar worth around Tk 1.65 crore at around 11:00 am.
The foreiogn currency was kept hidden inside cartoons aloong with vegetables. the consignment was sheduled top go to Singapore by an aircraft of Regent airlines, said Assistant Commissioner (Customs) Riyadul Islam.
