The severe cyclonic storm, ‘Helen’, over the west-central Bay and adjoining area moved westwards and crossed Andhra Pradesh coast near Machilipatnam of India at 3 pm on Friday.It now lies over coastal Andhra and adjoining area, said the latest special bulletin of the Met office.
It is likely to move in a westerly direction further inland and weaken into a land depression gradually.
The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Mongla have been advised to lower distant warning signal number two.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till Saturday morning. – UNB
