Daring dacoity committed in Chitalmari, 2 injured

Daring dacoity was committed in 2 houses in the village Garibpur under Chitalmari Upazila in the district on Friday at night, according to a report received here. Two persons sustained bullet injuries when the dacoits opened gun fire on them. They were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for their treatment. The injured persons are Snehalata Mandol (35), a Health Assistant of Family Planning Department and Homeopathic physician Sukhen Mndol (50). Source added that police and the members of the affected families that at dead of night a gang of masked dacoits armed with fire arms and other deadly weapons raided the house of Shatatama Mandol of the village and entered the house by breaking open its one window At that time housewife Snehalata tried to resist the dacoits who then opened gun fire on her. As a result, she was injured and fell on the ground. The dacoits made all other inmates of the house hostage at gun point and looted cash Tk.14 thousand and 4 tolas gold ornaments. At the time of their departure the dacoits raided the adjacent house of Homeopathic physician Sukhen Mandol. He also sustained bullet injuries when the dacoits opened gun fire on him. Then the dacoits made other inmates of the house hostage at gun point, looted cash Tk.10 thousand and fled away. Dilip Kumar Mandol, Officer-in-Charge of Chitalmari PS told the newsmen, being informed of the matter he visited the place of occurrence.
