An officer of Detective Branch of police crushed under the wheels of an intercity train in city’s Uttara area on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Aminul Islam, 47, an officer of Detective Branch of police in Bhola.
Witnesses said a north Bengal-bound train crushed Aminul at the rail crossing adjacent to Joynal Market of Uttara sector-4 while he was crossing the rail track around 8:30am, leaving him dead on the spot.
Bhola police super Moniruzzaman confirmed the death of the DB officer.
He said, “He was on leave and went toDhakafor treatment and his family members lived in Uttara’s Joynal Market area in the capital.”
On information, Railway police recovered the body and sent to Dhaka Medical College Morgue for autopsy.
